On Sunday, March 11 at 2:00 pm, Mark Blake of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, and Anne Powell, descendant of Joel Brown, will discuss “Chairs, Cots, and Coffins: Joel Brown, Henry J. Brown and the Origins of Raleigh’s Oldest Business” at the Visitor Center at Mordecai Historic Park at the corner of Cedar Street and Wake Forest Road in Raleigh.

Mark is Funeral Director at Brown-Wynne on St. Mary’s Street in Raleigh and an avid student of local history. Anne Powell’s family owns the family Bible belonging to Joel Brown. Come hear the about the fascinating men who shaped Raleigh’s early business community.
