Claudia Brown, North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office, will address the background of Julius Rosenwald and the inception of the school-building program in the South, followed by an overview of the program’s implementation in North Carolina and a discussion of Rosenwald schools in Wake County.

Bringing Them Home: Over a Century of Oakwood Cemetery’s War Dead
Bruce Miller and Robin Simonton have put together an exciting program for Memorial Day called Bringing Them Home: Over a Century of Oakwood Cemetery’s War Dead. Oakwood Cemetery owes its existence to the remembrance of those who fought in war and has always and in many ways honored veterans.

Annual Meeting of the Wake County Historical Society
The Annual Meeting will be held at 7 PM at the Mordecai Historic Park Classroom. There will be a short business meeting followed by a speaker, Leslie Meadows, who will discuss the "Role of the Gristmill in the Development of Community in Wake County."
