West Raleigh (Oberlin to Faircloth, Wade to Hillsborough): Three Sites, Three Women, Three Men, c. 1858-2023

Brent Pitts will discuss his most recent book, a Covid project entitled West Raleigh A-Z, a Gazetteer and Social History, Centennial EditionDr Pitts will have copies of the book available for signing and purchase for $25 each.  The talk will feature highlights of West Raleigh places and people.

Brent A. Pitts is Professor emeritus of World Languages & Cultures at Meredith College. He holds his PhD. in French, his M.A. in French Literature, and his B.A. in French, all from Indiana University, Bloomington. His publications, papers, and conference presentations are far too numerous to list.

He was born and raised in Indiana but has lived in Raleigh since 1981. His wife Willa and he live on Mayview Road. His late wife Ruth and he had two daughters who now live near Willa and him. His granddaughter is in the MBA program at the U of Texas-Austin. Currently he is editing various books of the Anglo-Norman Bible (c. 1300?) for publication. He is also a volunteer member of the Research Committee of the City of Raleigh's Historic Development Commission.
